Rosemond Computing created a Microsoft Access database application
system which transforms a year of hospital in-patient case data into
an analysis package. Conclusions reached using the analyses reduced
hospital cost while improving patient care.
The system has been used for 42 different hospitals ranging
from 10,000 to 50,000 yearly patient admissions.
A hospital with 16,000 yearly admissions will have about 3 million patient care charges.
Most data is in a nationally standardized format, but not charges. Also each hospital
has it's own flare for structuring it's data.
So flexibility was designed into the system to handle variation between hospitals.
Efficient Resource Analysis is performed on case, physician and charge data with 50 analysis
Report, Graph and identification processes.
For three of the hospitals, a custom Microsoft Access database application was developed that automated
the analysis package generation, enabling hospitals to analyze in-house.
